Free Stuff (for those in SD :-)

As we're packing up, we're also weeding out  :-)  In talking things over with Anthony we've decided that instead of selling off unwanted items we'll give them away and then whoever gets stuff can make a donation to the Benevolence fund at Pacific Hope Church in order to help those who are in need during this Christmas season.

So we're making this post because it's the easiest way to keep the list updated for folks who might want some things.  So here's a list of things we have at this point, I'll try to keep it updated as we add more to the pile or as things get designated to their new homes  :-)

If you'd like something, please email me at: anthony.erica@gmail.com or call me at (858) 349-5127 (don't text- I can't receive it :-)

Hello Germany!

There are big changes in the air for The Melichareks in 2011!  The Lord has seen fit to provide a job for Anthony in Germany!  I didn't mention anything on the blog for sometime because I wasn't convinced that the move would actually take place, but now, it seems quite certain that we will be re-locating to Germany on Jan. 15th, 2012.

We are excited about what the Lord may have for us there yet are sad to say 'see you later' to the friends and family that we love in San Diego (and the greater United States).  But this does seem as though it has been a move ordained by the Lord and so we are following His lead and heading to Europe.  Anthony will be working for the Army Corps of Engineers, and we will be located in Weisbaden, just 20 minutes from Frankfurt (where there is a major airport, making us very easy to visit - hint, hint).  It is a 3 year commitment and we shall see after that what the Lord has in store.

There is a church that we are planning on visiting right off the bat.  They speak English and we've been listening to sermons on-line and have been very encouraged by the preaching.  We are excited to meet the body of believers there.  The Lord has provided us a home-schooling community to join through Classical Conversations.  We started with them here in San Diego, and love it.  The group in Germany is two weeks behind us, so we might not miss a beat in that regard.  It is not legal to home-school in Germany but because we are working for the US government, we are allowed to. I am thankful for that, because we are loving schooling at home.

We've also been beginning to learn German now, and the kids are picking up on it quickly.  I think they may be translating for me very soon  :-)  By moving to Germany, Anthony and I are on a little bit more of a level playing field in terms of learning the language.  He is not fluent in German and only took one year of it in school.  I have no German.  We'll be learning together which will be a fun experience.  I asked him how it would work if I just spoke English with a thick German accent....but he didn't think that would work.  He's probably right  :-)  It will be winter there when we arrive, so my Southern California family is in for a chilly surprise.

If you think of us, please pray that:
1. We will honor the Lord in our actions, attitudes, thoughts and speech as we rapidly pack up and prepare to do our first international move in about a month.
2. That we would be obedient to the Lord in any ministry he has for us to do en-route or there.
3. That the Lord would provide housing for our larger than average in Germany family quickly, so we can minimize our time in temporary housing

Oh, and yes! We have a new mailing address for you to add to the list:
